Hi, I am Jac, and I am a Director in the Court of Protection team. The specialist team provides a dedicated legal service to those who lack the mental capacity to make their own decisions concerning their property and finances and find themselves under the protection of the Court.
I graduated with a degree in Law from Cardiff University in 2012 and following this, worked for a social research company in Swansea, primarily working on a range of housing and health consultations for public sector clients. Always wanting to pursue a career in Law, I joined JCP as a Paralegal in the busy Residential Property team in September 2013 and commenced my role as a Trainee Solicitor in March 2016. I completed the Legal Practice Course part-time at Cardiff University whilst working for the firm.
Gaining a wealth of experience during my training contract, I was fortunate to spend time in the Lifetime Planning, Family, Injury and Corporate departments. I then completed the last 9 months of my training contract in the Court of Protection team where I qualified as an Associate Solicitor in March 2018. I was promoted to Senior Associate in October 2022 and Director in April 2023.
My varied experience together with my understanding nature lends itself well to the array of matters and clients I deal with. I am passionate about developing and maintaining lifelong relationships with my clients, their families and care professionals. I take pride in empowering my clients to maximise their decision-making abilities, whilst ensuring that their funds are utilised appropriately. The Legal 500 2023 and 2024 editions list myself as a ‘Key Lawyer’.
I am a committee member of Headway Swansea, a Senior Member of The Professional Deputies Forum and I am a member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association (CoPPA). I am also a member of the South West Wales Brain Injury Group.
I undertook training in 2020 to become a Dementia Friend. A Dementia Friend learns more about what it is like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action.
Out of work, I enjoy keeping fit, holidays abroad and spending time with my friends and family.
