Michael was one of the founding members of JCP’s Corporate and Commercial team following his qualification as a Solicitor with the firm in 2001. He became a Partner in JCP in 2005 and over the last 17 years he has built up significant experience of company and commercial work. Michael has acted for a broad range of business clients from sole traders up to large international corporations, charities, venture capitalists and major financial institutions.
His particular area of specialism is buying and selling businesses. Michael deals with a wide variety of business and commercial work, including:
- Business sales and acquisitions – including engineering companies, nursing homes, retail businesses and management buy-ins.
- Joint venture, shareholders’ and partnership agreements, third party funding arrangements and investments, company incorporations, reorganisations, advice on directors’ duties, share issues and compliance with governing documents
- Commercial agreements – supply agreements, equipment leases, terms of business, loan and security agreements
He also provides advice to charitable organisations in relation to their constitutions, guiding them through the registration process, commercial trading arrangements in relation to subsidiaries, ongoing routine advice and dealing with the Charity Commission.
