Legal Apprenticeships
Applications are now closed for 2024. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for further details regarding our 2025 intake.
Earn while you learn with the #TeamJCP Academy through a new pathway created to inspire and develop the next generation of legal professionals.
The new pathway to qualify as a Solicitor with JCP Solicitors comes at a time when young people face pressure to decide their future, with some individuals feeling as though traditional university routes are a daunting prospect or financially unavailable.
We are offering fully funded apprenticeships to qualify as an advanced paralegal, following this you can join the new pathway to becoming a solicitor.
The new apprenticeship pathway on offer provides an alternative to the traditional university education, where school and college leavers, or anyone interested in a career in Law, can instead study for a Business Administration or CILEX Level 3 Legal Apprenticeship. The apprenticeships can then be further expanded on, creating opportunities through a more vocational setting, allowing students to gain on-the-job training, and earn whilst working towards their qualifications, potentially saving thousands on university fees.
Apprentices will be mentored throughout their journey by industry-leading Solicitors and legal professionals in our team, with funding and support available to further develop skills and experience.

How long will it take from initial intake to Solicitor qualification and how much will it cost?
If you decide that this route is for you, full qualification from Business Administration Apprentice through to qualified Solicitor will take you around 6 to 8 years. Course fees will change throughout this period but based on current figures the ‘learn-whilst-you-earn’ route could cost around £10,000. However, funding is available and there is potential for further funding from various sources in the future. You will be able to apply for student loans for part of the qualifications, as you would to attend university. In comparison, a traditional route through university qualification would incur an expenditure of over £50,000.
What is my earning potential for the future?
How much a Solicitor earns can vary according to location, sector and size of organisation, type of work being undertaken and level of experience. Qualified Solicitors could typically expect a salary of between £25,000 & £40,000. In more specialised areas with more than 10 years’ experience, Solicitors can earn anything between £50,000 & £100,000. This could increase further depending on the complexity and prestige of the firm.
A qualified Paralegal could look to earn between £19,000 & £35,000, again depending on experience, sector and location.
It is important to note that these figures are approximate and can differ depending on location and market conditions at the time.
What if I decide to go to university, are opportunities still available at JCP Solicitors?
Yes, we will continue to offer both routes. You can either apply through the #TeamJCP Academy as a Legal Apprentice or come to us via the traditional Trainee Solicitor route once you have completed your Degree and SQE qualifications or Legal Practice course.
What if I don’t want to continue along the whole pathway to become a qualified Solicitor?
You can finish your study at any point in the pathway, remaining as a Business Support Assistant, Legal Assistant or Legal Advisor in our business. We will do what we can to give you the tools to get to the level where you feel the most comfortable. The benefit of this is that no year is wasted and each year that you work and study adds to your experience and helps to build your CV.
