Welsh Legal Team Acts For European Sportswear Leader On Nottingham Forest Kit Deal

JCP Solicitors’ Sports Law team has acted for one of Europe’s leading sportswear manufacturers, Macron S.p.A, on a long-term year Technical Kit Supply Agreement with Nottingham Forrest FC.
The deal is the largest commercial agreement in the Championship club’s history and it sees the largest indigenous law firm in Wales continue to strengthen its long-running relationship with Macron. Back in 2016 JCP’s Sports Law team acted for Macron on significant kit deals involving Stoke City and Northampton Saints, as well as advising in 2014 on a kit deal and stadium naming rights agreement with Bolton Wanderers FC, its stadium now being known as the Macron Stadium.
Andrew Meech, a Director in the Sports Law team, said: “This is another landmark deal for Macron which this time involves a former European Cup winning club with a rich history in the game. I am pleased and proud that we were able to play a part in this new venture and most importantly link up once again with Macron and continue to strengthen our long-standing and close relationship.
“Sports Law is a fast-evolving area of expertise and, by their nature, sporting deals and acquisitions are often high value and prestigious, so it is important that the parties involved can call upon a high level of knowledge, professionalism and attention to detail from their legal teams.”
Macron’s Sports Marketing Director, Roberto Casolari added: “Counting Nottingham Forest among our teams means binding us to a club that represents the history of English football and the project we want to achieve with them is very much tied to its tradition and the passion its numerous fans feel. The fact that some Italian influence is in the origins of Nottingham Forest, and in particular the colour of their jersey, stimulates us even more to create a collection that can be worn with pride by both players and fans.
Macron continues to enjoy a successful relationship with JCP Solicitors and we are grateful to Andrew Meech at JCP for his legal advice and support during this process. The assistance from Andrew has helped in finalising the agreement with Nottingham Forest in a timely and effective manner, to the benefit of all involved. We look forward to working with JCP again in the future as we look to further develop our presence within the UK.”
JCP Solicitors acts for a number of sports clubs, individuals and related companies from both professional and amateur organisations. The law firm has previously acted for Macron on a number of matters to include its record sponsorship deal with Scottish Rugby Union and on a retail services agreement with Scarlets Rugby.
The Sports Law team at JCP Solicitors has been ranked at the top by leading industry bibles, the Legal 500 and Chambers.
Macron already supplies apparel to more than 50 professional clubs and has a presence in 57 countries across the globe. Those professional clubs include SS Lazio, Bologna FC, Cagliari, Italian Rugby Federation, Scottish Rugby, Edinburgh Rugby, Glasgow Warriors, Scarlets Rugby, Northampton Saints, Vitesse, Sporting Clube de Portugal, Nice, Deportivo La Coruna, Adelaide FC and Perth Glory FC.
