Carly Stevens
Carly is a crucial part of the HR team as HR Advisor where she supports the wider HR team and our employees across the JCP offices in South, East and West Wales. With a background in law, Carly understands and is passionate about the legal sector and joined JCP as the role allows her to explore her passion with an added people focus, blending her two key career paths. Carly enjoys the diversity the role provides as it focuses on employee relations matters as well as strategic tasks.
Carly completed the Law LLB Undergraduate at Swansea University (2007-2010) with a 2:1 and progressed on to study the LPC, also at Swansea. During the transition from undergrad to postgrad she was awarded the Lord Williams of Mostyn Scholarship which was an application process for all undergraduates within Swansea. She passed the LPC (2010-2011) with distinction and moved immediately into employment.
Carly began her law career at a Law Firm in Caerphilly as Legal Advisor, which was attached to a legal expenses provider where she advised on legal queries for policy holders, and was in this role for 5 years. Carly then relocated closer to her home to improve her work life balance and was then able to change careers, moving in to the field of HR.
Carly was then a HR Officer in NPT Council for a period of 5 years where she undertook the Postgraduate Level 7 diploma in Human Resource Management (2019-2020), which she passed with distinction while working full time.
Carly then transitioned to People and Culture Business Partner at a local, large organisation where she enjoyed empowering and educating managers.
Outside of work, Carly likes to spend time outdoors, with her daughter and husband. The family enjoys going on walks and keeping themselves busy!
Carly studied Welsh Second Language at A-Level although admits her Welsh language skills are a bit rusty now!
