Meinir Davies
Meinir qualified in 1993 and practised for a period of time in London. In 2001, she returned to Swansea and joined JCP Solicitors, specialising in Clinical Negligence. Following JCP’s expansion into West Wales, it was recognised that a specific role was needed to ensure that the needs of both new and existing Welsh speaking clients, and the ever growing number of Welsh speaking staff, were provided for. In 2012 therefore Meinir was appointed Welsh Language Coordinator.
Her role involves the creation and monitoring of the firm’s Welsh Language Policy, with the aim of enhancing the services available to clients and JCP’s contact with the public. Meinir also coordinates the translation of documents and literature and compliance with relevant legislation. In August 2014 JCP enjoyed a highly successful attendance at the National Eisteddfod in Carmarthenshire having taken a stand there to celebrate opening our offices in Carmarthen. Likewise JCP were proud sponsors of the National Eisteddfod in Cardiff in 2018, hosting our first Welsh Business Breakfast on the ‘Maes’. The Welsh Business Breakfast is now an annual event in our calendar.
Meinir often features on radio and TV promoting the Welsh language in business. She is a fluent Welsh speaker and his happy to conduct matters either formally or informally through the medium of Welsh. Click here to see Meinir's profile on our Welsh Website.
Meinir is also a committee member of Swansea and District Law Society and takes an active role in helping to organise and plan their events.
Meinir undertook training in 2020 to become a Dementia Friend. A Dementia Friend learns more about what it is like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action.
Wedi cymhwyso ym 1993 bu Meinir yn gweithio am beth amser yn Llundain. Yn 2001 dychwelodd i Abertawe ac ymuno â Chyfreithwyr JCP gan arbenigo mewn Esgeuluster Meddygol. Wrth i JCP ehangu i mewn i Orllewin Cymru fe ddaeth yn amlwg bod angen creu rôl benodol i sicrhau a chefnogi budd y cleientiaid Cymraeg eu hiaith, boed newydd neu’n bodoli’n barod, a hefyd i gefnogi’r nifer cynyddol o staff Cymreig yn JCP. Yn 2012 felly apwyntiwyd Meinir yn Gydlynydd yr Iaith Cymraeg ar draws JCP.
Mae’r rôl yn cynnwys creu a monitro Polisi Cymraeg y cwmni gyda’r nod o hyrwyddo’r gwasanaethau sydd ar gael i gleientiaid a chyfoethogi’r cyswllt gyda’r cyhoedd. Mae Meinir yn cydlynu cyfieithu dogfennau a llenyddiaeth, a chydsyniad y cwmni gyda’r ddeddfwriaeth berthnasol. Ym mis Awst 2014 cafodd JCP amser llwyddiannus yn ymweld ag Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Sir Gâr gan gymryd stondin yno i ddathlu agor swyddfeydd yng Nghaerfyrddin.
Mae Meinir wedi ymddangos ar radio ac ar deledu yn hybu defnydd o’r Gymraeg mewn busnes ac mae’n hapus i ddelio gyda materion yn ffurfiol neu’n anffurfiol trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg.
Mae Meinir hefyd yn aelod o Bwyllgor Cymdeithas Gyfreithiol Abertawe a’r Cylch ac yn helpu trefnu a chynllunio digwyddiadau lleol.
