Farmer Group Agreements

Increasingly farmers are collaborating in initiatives to increase the return that they obtain from their produce and to reduce the input costs incurred by their businesses.

Each farmer in such a group needs to be clear as to what his or her obligations are to the others in the group and what requirements are necessary to satisfy the retailers’ demands. Any breach by one farmer of those requirements could result in all farmers in the group missing out which is why it is important for there to be formal agreements providing warranties and indemnities to protect each individual farmer. Some retailers will provide such legal documentation in respect of which farmers will require advice.

We are well equipped to assess with you each party's obligations and how this should be documented. We recommend seeking advice to ensure you have the best agreement in place.
