We are very pleased that Mei Li and Matthew Owen have joined Keith Thomas, all from our Injury Services Team, to be listed in the Headway Head Injury Solicitors’ Directory 2020, in recognition of their expertise in the area of brain injury.
The handbook highlights Solicitors across the UK who have particular expertise in supporting clients with brain injury, with Keith Thomas listed in this well-known directory for more than 10 years.
Our team has extensive experience of dealing sensitively with people affected by serious head injuries, and their families, and representing their interests tirelessly and effectively. Very often, our Solicitors will work with individuals for a number of years, whilst they secure the best possible outcome.
Clearly, sustaining a serious head injury, under whatever circumstances, whether from a birth injury or via an accident later on in life, can have life-changing effects. Aside from the pain and stress, it can create for the whole family, it can also lead to added financial burdens.
Mei, Matthew and Keith are all skilled at supporting clients by offering quality legal representation, pursuing access to interim money that is so often needed to meet their immediate needs, and giving access to a team of doctors and therapists who know how to minimise disability and to maximise ability.
Mei Li, JCP Director and Head of Catastrophic Injury, is a member of the Law Society Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel, a Member and Treasurer of Swansea Medico-Legal Society, and a Member and Senior Litigator of APIL (The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers). She is a member of the South West Wales Brain Injury Group and branch secretary for the South Powys branch of the Headway Neuro café. The Legal 500 has described Mei as ‘effective and hardworking’.
Matthew Owen, JCP Director and Head of Medical Negligence, is a member of the Law Society Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel and an active member and supporter of the Pembrokeshire branch of Headway. Matthew is endorsed in the 2019 Chambers Guide for his empathetic approach to difficult clinical negligence matters, with sources saying: "He will go over and above the call of what needs to be done."
Keith is a member of the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel along with the Headway Specialist Panel. The Legal 500 ranks him consistently among the leading individual solicitors in Wales, with the 2018 edition stating that he has a 'wealth of knowledge and experience' and is particularly accomplished at handling maximum severity acquired brain injury and birth injury cases.
Commended by Chambers as a notable individual, Keith is seen by peers as a "tough opponent" with particular expertise in birth and acquired brain injury cases. He is acclaimed for his expertise in catastrophic injury cases. Other Guides have described him as a “walking encyclopaedia” and his advice is said to be “amongst the most sought after in Wales”.
