Swansea & District Law Society’s newest President has chosen the YMCA and Langland Bay Lifeguard Club as the charities that will be supported during his tenure.
Chris Davies, Director and Head of Healthcare for JCP Solicitors, was elected President by Swansea & District Law Society members during 2020, with the position extended to 2022 due to lockdown restrictions.
Chris has put his weight behind YMCA Swansea, which helps vulnerable families in the region, and Langland Bay Lifeguard Club, an organisation that has been teaching generations of children about water safety and rescue, as well as providing beach event lifeguards locally.
Predominantly a specialist in Healthcare and Commercial Property Law, Chris has considerable experience in acting for dentists and pharmacists buying and selling practices throughout England and Wales. Alongside this, he also acts for opticians, GPs and funders who lend for healthcare projects.
Chris said: “I’m delighted to be elected President of the Swansea & District Law Society, which is a valuable voice for the local legal profession. This is a rich and diverse sector with deep expertise across a range of practice areas and this role embeds me as part of a great community of friends and colleagues. I am very much looking forward to raising the profile of both the YMCA and Langland Lifeguards during my time as President. Both of these charities do so much to support young people in our communities”
Swansea & District Law Society is an independent professional body for local solicitors. Its committee provides support, training and networking opportunities for its members and is their link with policy-makers.
Anne-Marie Rogan, CEO of YMCA Swansea, said: “On behalf of YMCA Swansea, a charity at the heart of Swansea since 1868 serving our community, we wish to express our gratitude at being selected as a charity to be supported by the Swansea & District Law Society. We are tremendously excited about working alongside the President to raise awareness and support across the region for our children, young people and families most in need. I know that together we can make a real difference where it matters most.”
Paul Williams, from Langland Bay Lifeguard Club, said: “We are very pleased that Chris has chosen to support us in his role as President of Swansea & District Law Society. Langland Bay Lifeguard Club work hard, year-round, to ensure the public is safe in the water in and around this beautiful part of Wales and we rely upon the support of the public to continue with this important work.”
