JCP Solicitors Welcomes Three New Owners as Company Growth Continues

One of Wales’ best-known law firms, JCP Solicitors, has announced the appointment of three new Business Owners: Directors Andrew Meech, Rhys Evans and Thomas Rees.

Andrew Meech, Director and Joint Head of Commercial Litigation, Rhys Evans, Director and Head of Rural Practice and Thomas Rees, Director in Medical Negligence, join 11 other Business Owners across the firm’s eight offices in South and West Wales.

Since joining JCP Solicitors in 2005, initially as part of the successful undergraduate scheme, Andrew Meech has enjoyed a swift and impressive career trajectory becoming a Director in 2016 when he was just 5 years qualified. Andrew has extensive expertise in commercial litigation and has advised regional, national and international clients including Macron S.p.A, abg windows and doors and Burns Pet Nutrition. Well-known in the business community in South Wales, Andrew also holds the position of Under Sheriff of West Glamorgan.

Andrew said: “Having started my legal career at JCP Solicitors, it is a source of pride to become a Business Owner working with our commercial and litigation clients across a range of sectors. I am excited to collaborate with the other Business Owners and Directors as we continue to grow the dispute resolution arm of the business. I also hope to be a role model for prospective solicitors to show what their career progression could look like here at JCP.”

Rhys Evans joined JCP Solicitors as a Director in 2021 and became Head of its industry-leading Rural Practice team in March 2023. Since becoming a Director, Rhys has strengthened his impressive reputation for agricultural property litigation and has advised clients from public and private sectors. His extensive experience in providing bespoke and technical advice means that he acts on a wide range of complex and high-value disputes. As one of two panel solicitors for the NFU Cymru, Rhys’ team act for the farming community and landowners across Mid and South Wales.

On his appointment, Rhys commented: “I am delighted to be made a Business Owner at JCP and am looking forward to working closely with colleagues across the business to continue strengthening our reputation as a leading law firm in the agricultural and rural sector here in Wales.”

Thomas Rees, an expert medical negligence lawyer specialising in spinal and catastrophic injury, first joined JCP Solicitors in 2013, becoming a Director in 2018. Thomas has been involved in the West Wales Law Society for many years and is a past President of the committee. Having secured many multi-million-pound settlements for his clients, Thomas is recommended in the UK edition of leading industry journal, the Legal 500.

Having worked at the firm for over ten years exclusively helping victims of medical negligence, I am excited to use my expertise to be part of the strategy for our resilient and forward-thinking injury services teams, delivering some of the most specialist advice in Wales.”
