Leading South Wales law firm, JCP Solicitors, has advised Macron SpA, one of Europe’s leading sportswear manufacturers, on a new retail services deal. The deal will see Macron supply Scarlets Rugby merchandise through the club’s retail outlets and website, which Macron will now run through its retail partner, A.N.D Textiles Limited.
This five-year agreement supplements Macron’s Technical Kit Supplier Agreement with the Scarlets, which will commence next season and it adds the Wales-based club, who compete in the GUINNESS PRO12 championship, to Macron's impressive roster of club sponsorships.
This deal also adds to JCP Solicitors’ wealth of experience in advising on kit sponsorship and supply arrangements, including on Macron’s previous record deals with the Scottish Rugby Union and most recently with Stoke City FC and Northampton Saints RFC.
JCP Director and a specialist in Business Litigation, Andrew Meech, said: “We are delighted to have advised a global and well-respected company like Macron on yet another key agreement. Macron has a long history of representing top-level sports teams and we are proud to assist them in continuing to enter into exciting new partnerships across many sports in the UK.
“Of course, this deal has an added note of importance for us since it involves our close neighbours at Parc y Scarlets.”
Macron already supplies apparel to more than forty professional clubs across the continent including, Lazio, Sporting Clube de Portugal, Nice, Deportivo La Coruna, New Zealand Rugby League and Crystal Palace.
The Scarlets will now wear home and away kit supplied by Macron as well as training gear and leisure wear, match day, training and travel kit, and Macron will supply fans wear and accessories alike.
Macron’s sports Marketing Manager, Ross Cook, said: “This is another pleasing deal for Macron, to supply quality sportswear for the Scarlets and for their very passionate fans.
“Macron has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with JCP Solicitors and I am grateful to Andrew Meech at JCP for his keen legal expertise, which was instrumental in finalising the legal contract and documentation between Macron and the Scarlets.
“This agreement is not only a technical sponsorship agreement but also a complex retail arrangement, and JCP Solicitors has been a vital linchpin in delivering both legal agreements successfully. We look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with JCP in the future.”
David Thompson of Thompson Darwin Limited advised Scarlets Rugby in connection with the agreement.
The sports law team at JCP Solicitors has been ranked at the top by leading industry bibles, Chambers and the Legal 500. The team acts on the behalf of many sports clubs, sporting individuals and other related companies from both professional and amateur organisations.
