Sponsors, supporters, athletes and local celebs were amongst those who attended the JCP Swansea Half Marathon night of celebration that took place in Morgans Hotel just last night. The event was held in appreciation of all those who played a part in bringing this year’s race to life and to officially launch 2016.
The flat, fast and scenic JCP Swansea Half Marathon 2016 takes place on Sunday 26th June on fully closed roads with an increased number of 8,000 places available. The event is going from strength to strength and is one of the fastest growing races in the UK, with entries sold out in 2014 and 2015.
The team behind the JCP Swansea Half Marathon is continuing to work with their founding sponsor JCP Solicitors, and long term partners that include; Compare Insurance, Matthews & Co chartered accountants, HMT Sancta Maria and The BID, who are behind The Big Heart of Swansea campaign.
Race Director David Martin-Jewell commented: “We are very excited to officially launch the JCP Swansea Half Marathon 2016. We have come a long way over the last 18 months and it’s great to see that our race has become one of the most popular half marathons in the UK in such a short space of time. Once again it has been fantastic to work with our partners and sponsors this year and we thank them for their continued support, and look forward to delivering another outstanding event in 2016.”
In addition to the new developments to the race a brand new national charity structure has been introduced for 2016, announcing Cancer Research UK as the Headline Charity Partner and Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, Help for Heroes and Save the Children as Gold Charity Partners. An estimated £1 million was raised at the 2015 race for charities and good causes, with three local charities being supported by the team of Swansea Half Marathon.
JCP Solicitors' CEO Hayley Davies said: "As the event’s main sponsor we are delighted that the JCP Swansea Half Marathon has become a firm fixture in the calendar for both athletes and the community. We are very proud to be involved in this fantastic event which raises money for good causes each year.”
